| The Southern Highlands Golf Club Charitable Foundation, after years of planning and fundraising through its major event, the Governor’s Black-Tie Invitational, broke ground Wednesday, May 12th, on the communities’ newest amenity, the Southern Highlands Boys & Girls Club. The Southern Highlands Boys & Girls Club, operated by the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada, will sit on 2.4 acres of land, donated by Olympia Group and Southern Highlands Development Corporation, nestled against a hillside and subtly secluded by the surrounding landscape. Located on Southern Highlands Parkway and Shinnecock Hills Avenue, the Club will provide a variety of amenities for thousands of children between 5-18 years of age, including: a state-of-the-art Learning Center with Computer Lab, an Art Studio, a Teen Center with its own computer lab and media center, and a regulation-sized Gymnasium with hardwood floors and scoreboard. All ages can enjoy the Game Room with a multitude of offerings including foosball and pool. The secure outdoor play area and covered patio is enhanced with a barbeque, while the kitchen will provide additional food services. The Community Room will be available for classroom use and community meetings.
