April 8–10, 2010

Dear Friends:

I am truly looking forward to the Tenth Annual Governor’s Black-Tie Invitational at Southern Highlands Golf Club April 8th through the 10th and I certainly hope to see you there. It is indeed an honor for me to be hosting this exciting Silver Anniversary celebration which promises to be exceptional and memorable in every way.

As we commemorate an impressive decade of giving hope a helping hand across the Las Vegas Valley, it seems most appropriate to applaud those who have made so many good works possible. In 2001, Garry Goett and his team at Southern Highlands conceived and created this now legendary three-day golf and social event to benefit local children’s, teens and women’s charities. In the past nine years the Governor’s Black-Tie has generated over $7 million in life-changing charity-bound funds directed toward helping those in our area who so desperately need our assistance. Please join me in commending Garry and his team for their vision, dedication and exemplary involvement.

In 2003, we introduced the prestigious Governor’s Philanthropist of the Year award to honor, elevate, and express our gratitude to those most active in local philanthropy. This year I am proud to recognize Joan and Jim Hammer as the 2010 recipients of this award. The Hammers have dedicated their lives to helping those in need. They generously support over two dozen non-profit organizations focusing on health, children, disabled, education and at-risk youth.

Please join me for this year’s Governor’s Black-Tie Invitational as we celebrate 10 years of giving. I look forward to sharing all of the highlights and memorable moments with you!

Sincerely,
Jim Gibbons
Governor
