"For the past nine years, this exclusive golf event has contributed over $6 million to a number of local charities. I am so proud to applaud the exceptional success of the previous years' tournaments. The funds generated from this event directly benefit those who so desperately need our assistance. This year, I hope to once again exceed last year's achievement.

In 2003 we introduced the prestigious Governor’s Philanthropist of the Year Award to promote and recognize local philanthropy. We strongly believe that philanthropists should be encouraged, thanked, and recognized for their contributions to the community. To that end, the award is presented annually during this event to a local philanthropist for his or her exceptional generosity to the community.

We also thank all of you for your participation in this tournament. Your involvement demonstrates your dedication and commitment to giving back to our community and to helping others.

Over the next few days you will enjoy the finest golf on one of Nevada's most exclusive courses, while experiencing great entertainment and social activities. I extend my best wishes to everyone involved in this spectacular event. The organizers, sponsors, and volunteers have once again done an outstanding job of creating this memorable experience.
