We’re honored to recognize Andre Agassi as the recipient of the 2007 Governor’s Philanthropist of the Year award. This award, selected annually by the Governor of Nevada, is based on an individual’s compassion for giving, financial contributions, and his or her willingness to make a difference by enriching the lives of others.

Andre Agassi began his professional tennis career in 1986 at the age of 16, earning 60 career men’s singles titles, including eight Grand Slam singles titles. Agassi stands today as the only male player in the world to win all four Grand Slam titles and an Olympic gold medal.

But Agassi is far more than a sports star. In 1994, he established the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation to provide recreational and educational opportunities for at-risk youth in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada. Since its inception, the Foundation has raised more than $60 million for programs designed to enhance a child’s character, self-esteem, and career possibilities.

The Foundation supports a wide range of children’s programs, including the Andre Agassi Boys and Girls Club, Boys Hope/Girls Hope, Las Vegas Philharmonic Youth Concert Series, YMCA of Southern Nevada, I Have a Dream Foundation, and other programs that provide scholarships, recreation and educational support to children and teens.

Andre is married to tennis superstar Stefanie Graf. The couple has two children, Jaden Gil and Jaz Elle. Please join us as we recognize Andre Agassi for his unwavering support of Las Vegas youth.
