Claudine Williams has long been a woman of influence and magnanimous giving in the state of Nevada. Starting when she
co-owned the Silver Slipper Casino from 1965 until its sale to Howard Hughes in 1969, she has provided a long list of firsts for women in banking and gaming. In 1982, Williams became the first woman chairman of a Nevada bank when she was elected by the board of American Bancorp of Nevada and, in 1992, became the first woman inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame.

She actively serves on several boards and committees including the UNLV Foundation Board of Trustees, UNLV William F. Harrah Advisory Board, Cox ommunications Advisory Board, and Clark County Public Education Foundation Advisory Board. She is also a past board member for many other foundations and commissions.

Williams established the Shelby Williams endowment for scholarships to the UNLV William F. Harrah School of Hotel Administration and donated funds to the university for a student housing project – a residence hall is named in her honor. For her ceaseless service and generosity to the community, she has received honors from numerous organizations.
